Governor Holiday pays working visit to Bonaire

Bonaire, February 6th – His Excellency Governor Holiday paid a working visit to Bonaire on February 6, 2013. The Governor was welcomed at Flamingo International Airport by the island governor of Bonaire Dr. Emerencia. The Governor met with the island governor and the commissioner of economy and energy, Mr. Elhage. The discussions centered on developments in nature conservation and wind energy in Bonaire. Governor Holiday also visited and received an update on the developments in regard to the detention facilities on Bonaire. The Governor further, met with management and staff of the Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA), of which he is a honorary patron. Together with DCNA he toured the Lac bay and was informed about the marine life and environmental challenges of the mangroves which thrive in the bay. The Governor concluded his trip with an on-site visit at the power production plant and the windmill park. He was informed by representatives of the Water and Energy Company Bonaire (WEB) and Ecopower about the operation and performance of windpower on Bonaire.
