Governor Holiday pays working visit to Sint Maarten Academy

Harbour View – On October 18, 2012, His Excellency Governor Eugene B. Holiday paid a working visit to the Sint Maarten Academy, where he met with the school’s Principal Mr. Hussain, with Mr. Sprot (vice principal) and Mrs. Baily (Head of the Student Care department). During the meeting, the Governor discussed the school structure, the curriculum, student care, student performance and other issues involving the Sint Maarten Academy. During the tour of the school Governor Holiday was particularly pleased to see the increasing use of information technology in the school and encouraged management to continue to focus on excellence. After showcasing their art work Khailo Chance representing the highly talented art Class presented Governor Holiday with one of his paintings depicting the constitutional change of 10-10-10 and the hope for the future.
Following the meeting with the school’s management and a tour of the school, the Governor in keeping with the curricula gave a lesson in economics to the pre-examination class on the topic of market failure and the role of government in addressing the undesired effects of market failure. The Governor applauded the pupil’s enthusiasm and commended Sint Maarten Academy on the high standard of the class and the hard work management and teachers has done to further the level of education on Sint Maarten.
