Governor Holiday paid two-day working visit to Saint Lucia

Harbour View - His Excellency Governor Eugene B. Holiday paid a two-day working visit to Saint Lucia during which he met various officials on May 22nd and 23rd 2019.
Governor Holiday was received on Thursday May 22, 2019, by the Deputy Governor-General of Saint Lucia, His Excellency Gregory St. Jour, for a meeting at “Government House” the official residence and office of the Governor-General in Castries. The audience was the first meeting between the two officials. Following the audience, Governor Holiday held talks with the honorable Prime Minister Allan Chastanet and with the honorable Minister of External Affairs, Sarah Flood-Beaubrun. Governor Holiday also visited the headquarters of the Organisation for Eastern Caribbean States where he was received by the Director-General, Dr. Didacus Jules and his staff. Discussions with the officials centered on regional cooperation within the context of Sint Maarten’s interest of becoming an associate member of CARICOM and the OECS. This considering the common challenges in areas such as education, disaster management and correspondent banking. Governor Holiday also visited the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College which provides tertiary level education in areas such as education and nursing. There he met with the Vice Principal, Dr. Merle St. Claire.
The visit was concluded with Governor Holiday was also given an explanation of the Pitons Management Area, Saint Lucia’s natural Heritage site, followed by a short tour. During his visit the Governor and Mrs. Holiday were accompanied by the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Saint Lucia, Mr. Jules Bijl, the Director of the Cabinet of the Governor, Mrs. Mieke Kalter and the Aide de Camp to the Governor, Mr. Patrick Trijsburg.
